The Canadian SF Works Database does not represent, nor is it associated with, any particular literary award. The Canadian SF Works Database was founded to give Canadian nominators and voters a handy reference tool. Some of the writers and works represented here have been nominated for, or have won, a variety of literary awards including the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award, the Prix Aurora Award, and many others. In some cases, works have been nominated, or have won, in more than one category.
Why is this important? Because different awards have different criteria for nominating and voting. For example, there are some 50+ Canadian members of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America who are organized into the Canadian Region of SFWA and may nominate and vote for the Nebulas. Consequently, if this database was organized and worded to represent a single award, it would become less than inclusive for Canadians who might be eligible for other awards.
To that end, I have created this 'book', containing award specific articles and documents. If you represent an award and you wish to clarify eligibility criteria or prize categories and explain how they pertain to, or differ from, those presented here, then I invite you to create a page related to that award and present the information here. Feel free to link back to the categories and definitions on this site and clarify any important differences.
Thank you for contributing to Canadian SF.
